Graphic devices

Our graphic devices extend and reinforce the GGC visual identity. Derived from the structure and symbolism of the emblem, these elements translate the brand’s themes of climate action, momentum and systemic change into flexible visual components. They may be used to frame content, introduce hierarchy and add controlled energy to layouts. Application should always be deliberate and restrained, ensuring they enhance clarity, support messaging and contribute to a consistent, confident visual system across all materials.

The Climate Spiral

Derived directly from the structure of the GGC logo, the Climate Spiral it extends the brand’s identity into dynamic backgrounds and large-scale applications. Inspired by the molecular composition of carbon dioxide, one carbon atom and two oxygen atoms, the spiral form is built from repeating three-part structures. This embedded reference to CO₂ reflects GGC’s core mission: addressing the climate finance gap and enabling investment in decarbonisation.

The rotational geometry introduces movement and momentum, symbolising the circulation of capital and the acceleration of climate solutions.

Its radial formation also echoes natural growth patterns, reinforcing the connection between financial innovation and regenerative systems. When used in backgrounds and supporting graphics, the Climate Spiral should convey energy, confidence and forward motion, never distraction. It represents climate action in motion and a greener world, guaranteed.

Placement and composition

The Climate Spiral is a supporting graphic device and should be used to reinforce composition, not dominate it.

It should typically be positioned partially off-canvas, allowing the form to emerge from the edge of the layout. This cropped placement creates movement and visual energy while maintaining focus on primary messaging.

The device should typically be positioned partially off-canvas and used asymmetrically to introduce depth, movement and visual energy. It should not usually be centred or fully contained within a layout.

In select applications, such as hero compositions or focal brand moments, the device may be centred to create emphasis and visual impact, provided it does not compete with primary messaging.

Maintain a clear visual hierarchy at all times. The spiral must never compete with headlines, key messages or data visualisations. Where text is present, ensure sufficient contrast and breathing space to preserve clarity and legibility.

Avoid placing the device directly behind dense body copy or complex content. It may sit behind large headlines or minimal typography where contrast is carefully controlled.

Scale should be generous and confident. The device is most effective when enlarged and partially abstracted, rather than reduced to a small decorative motif.

Use the Climate Spiral to guide the eye and enhance flow, never to obstruct or distract from the reading direction.

Do:

  • Position the Climate Spiral partially off-canvas

  • Use asymmetrical placement to create movement

  • Scale generously for confident, abstracted use

  • Maintain strong contrast when used behind headlines

  • Preserve clear hierarchy and breathing space

  • Use to guide visual flow and enhance momentum

Do not:

  • Centre or fully contain the device within a layout

  • Place behind dense body copy or complex data

  • Compete with primary messaging

  • Reduce to a small decorative motif

  • Distort, rotate inconsistently or alter proportions

  • Overuse within a single composition

Recommended usage

Use the Climate Spiral to introduce energy, motion and visual depth within layouts, reinforcing the themes of circulation, acceleration and climate action.

Most appropriate on:

  • cover pages

  • section openers

  • digital headers

  • presentation title slides

  • Large-format impact visuals

The device may be used statically in print or with subtle, controlled motion in digital environments to enhance a sense of momentum.

The spiral must retain its original structure, proportions and rotational integrity at all times. Do not distort, stretch or alter its geometry.

When animating, movement should be smooth and deliberate — never fast, erratic or decorative.

Colour and styling

Use the approved multi-colour version only and avoid heavy contrast or visual noise in busy layouts.

Do not:

  • recolour outside of the brand palette

  • adjust opacity

  • use as a decorative fill pattern

  • crop in ways that break the flow

  • apply drop-shadows, gradients or effects

  • scale disproportionately or warp

The Green Orbit

The Green Orbit is a dimensional graphic device that brings depth and global context to the GGC visual system. Expanding from the structural logic of the emblem, it introduces a planetary perspective, visualising climate finance in motion around the world. This device reinforces GGC’s role in mobilising capital at scale and accelerating climate action across emerging markets and developing economies.

The device should not be centred or fully contained within a layout. It functions best when used asymmetrically to introduce depth and forward momentum.

Do:

  • Use as a hero visual in high-impact applications

  • Position centrally when conveying global scale

  • Maintain generous negative space around the device

  • Use to create depth and visual narrative

  • Apply in large-format digital or presentation environments

Do not:

  • Use in small-scale applications

  • Place behind dense text or data

  • Crop tightly in a way that loses planetary context

  • Overuse alongside the Climate Spiral

  • Alter lighting, perspective or block proportions

Illustrated elements

The illustrated elements collection expands the GGC visual language through conceptual representations of the systems that underpin climate action: people, nature and the atmosphere.

Derived from the modular geometry of the emblem, these illustrations translate scientific and environmental themes into dynamic visual forms. They are designed to introduce depth, motion and narrative context across communications, particularly in digital environments where animation can reinforce a sense of energy and progression.

These elements should be used selectively to complement, not replace, the core graphic devices.

Human systems

Inspired by the structure of DNA, representing people, collaboration and collective progress. It reflects the human dimension of climate finance, the communities, institutions and partnerships that enable sustainable development.

The continuous flowing form symbolises connection, knowledge and evolution, reinforcing the idea that climate solutions are built through coordinated human effort.

Natural systems

Drawing from organic plant structures, representing growth, regeneration and ecological balance.

It symbolises the environmental systems that climate finance seeks to protect and strengthen, connecting GGC’s financial role with real-world environmental outcomes.

The branching geometry conveys expansion, resilience and interconnected ecosystems.

Atmospheric systems

Representing air, circulation and planetary balance. The rotating forms reference movement within the atmosphere, echoing themes of carbon reduction and climate stability.

It connects directly to GGC’s mission of addressing emissions and enabling the transition to a low-carbon future.

The circular motion reinforces energy, momentum and systemic change.
